About PCDATA – Primary Care Dementia Assessment & Treatment Algorithm

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related forms of dementia currently affect over 400,000 individuals in Canada and the numbers of community dwelling older adults with AD is rapidly growing. Currently, approximately 8,000 individuals in South Eastern Ontario have dementia and this is expected to increase by approximately 20% in the next 20 years. AD is associated with over $15 billion annually in care costs. Most individuals with AD receive the majority of their care in primary care settings by primary care providers (PCPs) including family physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff.

Healthcare professionals in Sourthen Ontario are invited to participate in clinical trials of the PCDATA tool.
